Charted in 1964
Employee Resources Credit Union was originally chartered in March, 1964 as Murray Ohio Savings Association Credit Union by seven charter members. These seven charter members had a vision of forming a convenient place for members to save and borrow money. Each member was required to pay an entrance fee of 25 cents and the unsecured loan limit could not exceed $200.00.
In September, 1995 the credit union changed its name to Murray Credit Union. In April, 1998 Murray Credit Union was given approval to add other employee groups to the field of membership. Our name changed again in October, 1998 from Murray Credit Union to our present name Employee Resources Credit Union.
In 1999 the board of directors of the credit union had a new vision and a new direction. They decided to build a new facility to serve all of our members as a result of the expansion of our field of membership to include the new groups. The building was completed and the move was made in July, 2000.
In 2003 the credit union was approved for a Community Charter which opened our membership to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Lawrence County. In early 2005 our charter was again changed to expand our community charter to include Lawrence, Giles and Wayne counties. In late 2005 we opened a branch office in Pulaski to provide serve to members in Giles County.
Serving Over 5,000 Members
The credit union now has over 4,700 members (see Membership). Financial services include a variety of savings and loan products, certificates of deposit and checking accounts. ATM cards, check cards and ACH processing have made low cost services available for our members (see Services).
